Opt Outs

All fees charged to your student account are mandatory.  You have the option to opt-out of two of these fees, if you qualify.   These fees are the drug and dental plan and the U-Pass.
OPUS AND GSS students will be able to opt out of the Drug and Dental Plan in advance of being charged for it!  The option to opt-out early through UWSA will not be available for Fall 2017.

If you have registered for the fall term and have equivalent alternate coverage, you can opt out via myUWindsor.  Doing so will allow the University to work with the appropriate Student Society and their insurance carrier to verify the coverage.  If accepted, no charge will be billed to your account.

If you are a UWSA student and have questions regarding opt-out, please contact the UWSA office at

In order to take advantage of this you MUST opt out by August 4, 2017.

If you do not opt out early, you will still have the option of opting out through myUWindsor, however payment for the coverage must be made by the fee deadline day and the refund of the Drug and Dental coverage will be done by the appropriate student society. This standard opt out option can be done between September 1 and October 1, 2017.

Please check your society website (OPUS, GSS or UWSA) for details on how to opt out.  The links are provided below:

Before you opt out, understand that:

You cannot opt back in under any circumstances until the next school year

You cannot use UHIP or ODSP/Trillium Benefits as proof of comparable coverage

All undergrad and full-time grad students are charged a fee in the fall semester, which grants them access to unlimited Transit Windsor bus services form September 1 - April 30.  Students have the option to opt in for a bus pass for the summer if they had a bus pass in the previous semester.

Students who live outside the Transit Windsor service area are allowed to opt out of the bus pass fee.  Please visit the UWSA or OPUS website for details about bus pass pick up, deadlines for opt out and what information is required to opt-out.
