Comedian provides UWindsor students a lesson in personal finance

Comedian and award-winning lecturer James Cunningham spent an hour at the Odette School of Business on Monday, September 20 treating students to his FUN-ancial lecture. Sponsored by Scotia Bank and FREE to all students at the University of Windsor, a crowd of over 150 gathered to see the popular campus show ‘You’re (going to be) richer than you think.’ Amidst the laughs and cash prizes, James manages to communicate messages focused on three key areas of personal financial management for 18-22 year olds today: “Know your Flow”, “Control what you Owe”, and “Invest some Dough”.

The comedian praised the UWindsor crowd and says he “would be glad to come back to the University of Windsor.” In a crowd-pleasing finale featuring a dance-off, one lucky student went home with $100 in cash and 10 free movie passes. James even stayed on after the show to interact with students and sign copies of his Funny Money Manual, also provided free of charge to all attendees, courtesy of Scotia Bank.

James Cunningham travels North America providing students with meaningful, targeted financial advice in a humorous, engaging way to help them budget their money, manage their debt and invest in their future. “Your parent’s money is not yours,” he cleverly says to the crowd, helping students realize that making money and being accountable for it is a lot more difficult when the handouts come to an end.
