Enroute 2018 – an incredible experience

MBA students took to the streets of Toronto as they visited a number of prominent organizations including: RBC, MaRS - CAHBI & CIBC Live Labs, ReShift Media, Air Canada, OLG, TIFF, Hamilton Health Sciences, BMO, HSBC, and MLSE, during the 2018 Enroute edition.

Students were offered an exclusive look into the inner-workings of these organizations, facilitated by their executive teams. In open discussions, students were able to ask questions and gather critical career advice from seasoned business professionals, as well as get a glimpse of working life in a dynamic city like Toronto.

MBA student Giovanni Gagliano reflected on some of his experiences: "It was incredible. Very well organized, we got a glimpse of a number of different companies and industries and all the students involved had an organization that resonated with them. Touring RBC, and walking through the trading floor, I was in awe. It was something I could see myself doing in the future, and having an intricate look at the work life has really motivated me as I look to pursue a career."

The 3-day event was capped off by a networking dinner, where students were able to meet with former Odette Alumni as well as a few speakers from earlier in the day. In addition, students were granted numerous opportunities to network with executives of various organizations they visited.

MBA Society president, Shaelyn Whiston, shared her thoughts on the trip: "The week provided some incredibly valuable and relevant real-world experience. We are very ambitious, and having this kind of tangible look into how these massive organizations function, and the process of carving out a career in one of these organizations inspired a lot of us."

She added, "Each organization was different, and each speaker offered new insights into how we as students can embark on our job search and perhaps land at one of these companies. Personally, my greatest experience was attending OLG's headquarters. We were given the opportunity to network and converse with their entire executive team, including their CEO Stephen Rigby. It was really the type of experience that will be a huge takeaway for myself and everyone involved."
