Our management faculty focus on building leaders for the 21st century by teaching, studying, and consulting with business and other organizations on contemporary management issues that pertain to the effective use of people to achieve objectives within a strategic outlook that addresses the social, ethical and institutional concerns of local and global stakeholders. Our students are provided the opportunities to learn, develop, and practice ethical leadership through a process of personal leadership development and planning that carry them through their degrees and beyond into their work lives. We also prepare students for the Knowledge and Professional Practice Exams of the CHRP designation of the HRPA.

Faculty members in our management area have published in leading management and business journals, including: Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of World Business, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Entrepreneurship, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Human Resource Management Journal, Journal of Small Business Management, Business Ethics: A European Review, Journal of Managerial Psychology, Journal of Knowledge Management, Group Decision and Negotiation, and International Journal of Conflict Management.  

Major research topics in our management area include entrepreneurial readiness, career transition, creativity, business communication, leadership, consulting, mentoring, social exchange/trust, business ethics, corporate codes of ethics, bullying, aging work force, work force diversity, evaluation of human resources, reward systems and career planning in a changing world of work, cross-cultural management, conflict management and negotiation, cross-cultural studies in the emerging markets and Chinese studies, leadership, employee behavior, and international human resources management.
