SIFE 2010 National Competition Team

The Odette SIFE team has achieve a ranking among the top 5 finalists in Calgary, Alberta, by ACE (Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship), a national charitable organization, and a 50 person judging panel comprised of top Canadian CEOs. SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) is the global student association under the ACE organization.

Frank Casey, one of the “Fox Hounds” who broke the Bernie Madoff $65-billion Ponzi scheme, and Gaytri Kachroo personal attorney for Harry Markopolos, on a recent visit to the Odette School of Business, talked us through a timeline explaining how they discovered the fraud, and how they provided credible and detailed evidence to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) many times between 2000 and 2008, only to have warnings ignored repeatedly by the SEC.

Behavioural Interviewing

The Odette School of Business Career and Placement Service, (OCAPS), recently offered a workshop to MBA job seekers in Behavioural Interviewing. “This session was initiated as a result of the feedback Union Gas provided to OCAPS based on the interviews conducted on-campus during the Fall 2009 new graduate recruitment campaign,” stated Kerry Gray, Manager of OCAPS.

Golden Future-Schlosser & Kalaci

Paul Schlosser, a third year Business student in the Odette School of Business, travelled this past spring to Cape Town, South Africa with a team of 20 fellow university students as part of the Golden Future South Africa project for the purpose of assisting the area in their development of effective micro-enterprise initiatives and HIV/AIDS. The hope of the trip is to increase awareness to decrease the spread of HIV/AIDS, as well as foster social responsibility and community development initiatives.

The members from the Odette School of Business’ newly formed Deca U team challenged the grade eleven students of Holy Names High School to analyze a case, develop possible solutions, and present their solutions for an evaluation based on their comprehensive and problem solving skills.

Odette School of Business graduate, Landon Hang BComm ‘07, MBA ‘08, JD/LLB Candidate 2011 was honoured by the University Detroit Mercy School of Law recently for his academic accomplishment.

High school students from across Windsor and Essex County wheeled and dealed their way to mock prosperity Friday at the Odette School of Business.
