Upcoming speaker series to focus on effective leadership

The Odette School of Business is pleased to announce that one of best NHL players of all time and hockey executive Bob Gainey and well known industrial/organizational and performance psychologist, Dr. Scot McFadden, will be speakers at the second Breakfast with Champions: How to Build Winning Organizations/Teams.

Bob Gainey and Dr. Scot McFadden will present their discussion on 'Effective Leadership and what it takes to build a championship team' on Wednesday, October 13 at 7:30 a.m. at the Caboto Club.

Scot, a former Windsorite, University of Windsor graduate, and a Lancer hockey goalie, has worked with thousands of executives, managers, professionals, and athletes in both business and sports. Since 1998, he has been the sports psychologist of the Dallas Stars where he plays a key role in the drafting and/or development of established players. On the corporate side, Scot has extensive experience in executive coaching, performance and talent development.

Robert Michael “Le Capitaine” Gainey is the former Vice President and General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Coach of the Minnesota North Stars and then General Manager of the Dallas Stars when the team relocated. He built a winning organization and led Dallas to a Stanley Cup in 1999.

He is also considered one of the best Montreal Canadiens players of all time and one of the best NHL players of all time. He defines dedication, leadership, and loyalty. In 100 years of history, Bob stands out as one of the greatest to ever wear the bleu-blanc-rouge. He led his team through sacrifice: he's bled, he's fought, and he’s played with dislocated shoulders. Bob was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1992. He also led the Montreal Canadiens to an unheard of 7 Stanley Cups.

This is the second event in a new speaker series, sponsored by the Odette School of Business, that features prominent leaders from business, sports, politics, and arts who will sharing their blueprints for building organizations or teams who are considered winners in the arenas that they compete. To be successful, the CEO, General Manager, or Coach needs to know how to build, lead, and motivate an organization or team.

The sessions are open to University of Windsor students and faculty as well as all residents of the Windsor – Essex County area. Due to the popularity of the speakers, to ensure adequate seating capacity is available and to prevent lengthy registration line-ups, pre-registration is required.
